Lloyd Irvin
"Martial arts is a way of life for me. I love
teaching the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I can't wait for one of my
student's to reach Black Belt. I'll never forget when Dalla promoted me
to Black Belt in Brazil. It was the greatest day in my martial arts
career. I can't wait to give that feeling to one of my students."
Master Lloyd Irvin is a
World Renowned martial arts Coach, Competitor and Martial Arts Expert.
He is a Multiple Time National Judo Champion, a Multiple Time National
Sombo Champion and after coming out of a three-year retirement he
recently became a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu World Champion. A Graduate
of Bowie State University he holds the rank of 7th Degree Black Belt in
Thai Jitsu, 1st Degree Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, 5th
Degree Black Belt in Combat Sombo, and a 1st Degree Black Belt in Judo.
He's the only person in
the World to hold black belts in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Combat Sombo and
Judo. He is a modern day martial arts Legend. In 2002 he was
named The United States Judo Federation International Coach of the
year. Also in 2004 he was named the NAGA North American Grappling
Associations Instructor of the Year as well as The Grapplers Quest 2004
Instructor of the Year.
Master Lloyd’s
vast experience includes having taught many different law enforcement
and
military agencies including the Secret Service, FBI, Navy SEALs, DEA,
SWAT and Bounty Hunters. Having fought professionally retiring
undefeated and coaching fighters at the highest level of Combat.
He knows exactly what will work and what won’t. His program
throws out everything that doesn’t work and only teaches the
things that prove most effective. Master Lloyd is also involved
heavily with private security. This type of experience in real life
situations is what makes his martial arts school one of a kind.
Master Lloyd's journey of
the martial arts began at the age of 3. Master Lloyd was the first
African American in the World to receive a Black Belt in Brazilian
Jiu-Jitsu. Master Lloyd is one of only three Non-Brazilians to
ever receive a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt in Brasil. In 1999,
Master
Lloyd Irvin became the first American to ever defeat a Brazilian
Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt in Brasil. What makes this even more amazing was
that Master Lloyd just received his brown belt 3 days prior. After this
amazing victory Master Lloyd had a feature story written about him the
World Famous Gracie Magazine in Brasil.
Master Lloyd is one of
only a handful of instructors on the entire east coast that can
proficiently perform leg locks. Three time Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World
Champion Fabio Gurgel calls Master Lloyd "THE KING OF LEGLOCKS". Master
Lloyd is well versed in Western Boxing, Muay Thai, Silat, Brazilian
Jiu-Jitsu, Sombo, Knife, Stick, Freestyle and Valetudo fighting. He was
also featured in Ralph Gracie videos. Master Lloyd feels he is nothing
more than a student of the martial arts and will always strive to
become a better martial artist.
