To
arm your child to succeed in life?
To
help them be the best they can be
in school?
To
develop their self confidence?
To
assist them in developing their
unique potential?
To
learn self discipline?
Most
parents do everything they can to teach
these things to their children. But After
School many
parents need some help. The 2-4 hours that kids spend after school
before their parents get home are some of the most important hours in a
child's life.
How
is your child spending
their time After School?
Let’s
look at this example: The
average child spends 3-4 hours somewhere after school before their
parents come home. A child that goes from 1st to 7th grade spends about
200 days in school out of the year.
This doesn’t even
include the 8 hours a day for 2-3 months during the summer.
200
days time 3 hours is 600 hours a
year a child spends doing what?
Some go
to baby sitters. Some go home and
play with their friends doing what ever they want. Other get into
serious trouble. Not our students.
Between
the 1st and 7th grade a child spends
an average of 4200 hours doing basically nothing productive. This time
is more valuable than you know. In 4200 hours you could graduate
from college, get your Masters Degree and your Ph.D. So why
wouldn’t
you let your child spend this valuable time learning skills that will
last a lifetime?
When
our kids get out of school, their
parents know that their child is being trained in real Life Skills.
With our busy 21st Century schedules, it's hard to find the time and
resources to really help them with these important life skills.
You
would think and expect that they would
learn about perseverance, positive mental attitudes, self discipline
and goal setting in school, but they really don't.
Students
who attend the Lloyd
Irvin’s Martial Art's!
are a step up on others because we
teach them about these important life skills and how to develop them to
their fullest! Success traits that will pay off for the rest of their
lives.
Dear Parent,
The fact that you are
reading this tells me you want the
very best for your child. So how do you go about preparing them for the
challenges of our fast paced 21st Century? How do you teach them how to
have a positive attitude, to be self motivated, to set and attain goals
and to learn how to concentrate and focus? This is no easy task as this
specialized type of education is not taught in our schools. It is not
taught on our football, baseball or soccer fields either. Unfortunately
it's not even being taught in our community organizations or religious
groups. These life skills, if taught to children at a young age, can
have a tremendous impact on the outcome of their lives and how
successful they become.
Master Lloyd Irvin
During
the many years that I have been
training and teaching martial arts I have seen countless numbers of
young boys and girls who were very shy and lacked anything that
resembled self confidence. Some of them could not focus or concentrate
for more than a few seconds at a time. Others were overweight or were
slower learners than their peers. Many of these children were not doing
very well in school or in social situations because of their lack of
self confidence.
I have
a soft spot in my heart for these
youngsters. I know that with the right direction and training their
lives can be changed significantly for the better. I made it my goal
many years ago that we would teach much more than just kicking and
punching. That our Lloyd Irvin’s Martial Arts would
specialize in
personal development. In teaching life skills that would make a
difference.
We have
focused our entire program around
this premise. Yes, I believe we teach the best in martial arts
training, but that is not enough. Our entire children's curriculum is
centered around Life Skills and Goal Setting.
These
important qualities along with the
understanding of goal setting, self discipline, concentration and a
positive mental attitude are the cornerstone of our programs.
Don't
take my word for it...

"I came to the academy
being a single mother it helped to be able to turn to strong positive
adult black males who could help my son."
"I have seen a lot of
growth Justin. Justin being 16 years
old, he has come from being a very undisciplined child, not listening
and not maturing to coming to the academy and taking an interest of
martial arts. Whenever I was having problems with Justin in terms of
school work and discipline, I came to the academy being a single mother
it helped to be able to turn to strong positive adult black males who
could help my son. Justin loves being here and he volunteered during
the
summer camp. The children loved, the staff seemed to get along with
Justin. So yes, it has been a very positive experience."

"It’s all about
Structure and it’s about Discipline "
Well, my opinion with
the staff? My daughter is one of the
counselors for the summer program. They truly teach you not only
discipline and structure but the Word of God is in this place. There is
a lot of love in here so it’s not just about martial arts
it’s teaches you to be compassionate, to be respectful, you
have
to communicate, and this is more than a martial arts academy.
It’s
not a girlie activity like ballet, gymnastics or ice-skating where a
lot of the emphasis is on the child; especially a girl’s
weight.
Instead it’s on her being strong and confident and doing what
she
needs to do to be a good person.
Master Lloyd
and Master Donnie, I’ll tell you these guys are phenomenal. Yes,
I’m very pleased with the program and discipline that they
teach,
they do care about not only my son but every child that comes here they
care about you no matter how good you are or how much they have to
teach you they let you know that.
You
are still important,
you are still special but at the same time it’s all about
structure and it’s about discipline and just listen to what
they're
telling you to do, be the best you can be, they're not here to
criticize
their here to make you better, I’ve seen a huge difference in
his
confidence, his self-esteem, he loves people and the interaction
he’s having with the students has been very well, his
behavior
has gone from I don’t care to I can’t wait to come
to
class. I just love the program."

"There is an increase
in his self-esteem and his confidence."
"The positive
benefits of the program for my son is his
behavior, his mannerism and his positive outlook to the future for him
about going to school and doing the right thing paying attention just
listening. There is an increase in his self-esteem and his confidence.
He wants to do well, he wants to be a good boy, he wants to learn and
he likes being appreciative and praised. So he really boosted up a lot."

"I would advise any
parent to come to the Lloyd Irvin’s Martial Arts Center to
participate in the program."
"Having an energetic,
inquisitive, and bright six-year-old
can be a challenge for any parent. The Lloyd Irvin Martial Arts Academy
has been a wonderful place for our son Derrick to channel these
qualities. Their teachings have helped to enhance and reinforce what we
are doing at home. Derrick has developed a greater sense of
self-discipline, teamwork, and respect for others. We recommend the
academy to all parents."

"I would highly
recommend Lloyd Irvin’s Martial Arts to another parent."
The staff at the
Lloyd Irvin’s Martial Arts Academy
is very professional. My experiences have been nothing but positive.
Anytime I had to call or needed to talk to the instructor with any
concerns
it’s been a very positive experience. They always conduct
themselves in the most professional way and it’s been nothing
but
advantages and positive experiences, nothing negative no disadvantages
at all. I would highly recommend Lloyd Irvin’s Martial Arts
to
another parent. I would recommend the aftercare if they
weren’t
interested in the martial arts program. Particularly the martial arts
program; I would recommend it for parents and children because the
adult classes as well as the children classes. I think it is a great
opportunity to do things together with your child which they seem to
really like. They think it’s kind of cool when their
parents
participate in the same thing they are participating in.

"Back in kindergarten
last year, the teacher said that his
attention span is really good. A lot of the children wander off, but
since he has been here, he knows that he has to look directly to the
teacher to talk. She told me last year that she had noticed a change
from January to June. She could understand his English and things more
clearly. He is right there with his undivided attention with his
teacher. Angelo was very quiet and he wouldn’t speak up. He
wouldn’t take up for himself. He’s beginning to
speak
louder now, he is speaking more clearly because Grandma sometimes
couldn’t understand him. It’s like he is an
entirely
different little grandson, that’s what he is. I can see a big
change, I really can He is really growing to be 6 years old. I can see
the change. I think I have another Master Lloyd on my hands, I hope so!"

"The benefits that I
see in my daughter is that her coordination has improved tremendously."
'The positive
benefits in myself is that I am in much
better shape. I able to do things on vacations like climb mountains and
go kayaking and just basically enjoying my life alot more because
I’m in great shape and I have much more confidence in myself
and
my physical ability. She’s starting to be able to do many more
things.
It’s
not a girlie activity like ballet, gymnastics or ice-skating where a
lot of the emphasis is on the child; especially a girl’s
weight.
Instead it’s on her being strong and confident and doing what
she
needs to do to be a good person.
The
instructors at LIMAA are fantastic, they are very positive , very
encouraging, they expect a lot but they are also know our limitations.
The staff is very easy to work with, everyone is very friendly and very
helpful. She seems much more confident in what she does as keeping more
to her individual self that she doesn’t follow ,
it’s a
part of her personality that she’s not a follower and it
seems to
be even more so the longer she stays here She’s more so of an
individual, a leader rather than a follower."

Over
the years, I have seen
thousands of children benefit from our unique approach to teaching
martial arts.
- Overweight
children who lost a
few pounds through self discipline and exercise gained tremendous
amounts of self esteem and self confidence.
- Smart
children, who were bored in
school, learned to set goals and reach higher.
- Shy
children were brought out of
their shell and learned to enjoy life.
Overactive
children learned to
channel their energy and focus their attention
They
say that once you learn to ride a bike
that you never forget. Likewise, the skills and habits of success, once
learned, become a part of your child. Theirs forever to achieve, grow
and improve. I have witnessed this through thousands of children who
have experienced our programs. I have had countless parents tell me
their child is a different child after only a short time at our studio.
Parents, teachers, and principals report a growth in confidence,
improved self-discipline, growth in leadership skills, better grades in
school and on and on.
What
better gift to give your child than to
empower them with greater self esteem, confidence, focus and
concentration. At Lloyd Irvin’s Martial Arts we have
developed a
specialized program which combines physical training with life skills
development.
Our
belt promotion system is based on the
principle of steady consistent improvement. Self confidence and
improved self esteem are developed through a series of winning
experiences. This is how it works.
- Set
a goal
- Have
a plan
- Work
hard towards it's
achievement
- Persevere
until you reach the goal
- Set
higher goal
Of
course the key is to make sure they
succeed. How? We have a curriculum that is divided into small,
achievable goals. When you set a goal, then work for it and achieve it,
you begin to believe in yourself. Do that a few times and a person
begins to feel successful.
