What
do our parents think?
See
for yourself!
"Lloyd
Irvin's Martial Arts Academy is very consistent
interacting
with our youth in a
positive way."
The
most intriguing and respected things about Lloyd Irvin's
Martial Arts Academy are the strong development of discipline
and respect encouraged to our youth of today. The academy
is firm, yet caring, strict, yet understanding. The
parental discipline and respect given to our children
in the home is never interrupted in the academy.
In
my experience, other childcare services do not practice
the same creed. Because other services have let children
run wild, they lacked in discipline, respect, and grades.
It becomes frustrating as a parent when your rules are
not practiced and encouraged outside of the home.
Lloyd
Irvin's Martial Arts Academy is very consistent interacting
with our youth in a positive way. This is important
in today's world. The children are not only given the
tools to succeed today, but they are given the tools
for a more successful and brighter future. They have
the courage to try different things and to approach
obstacles and tasks with a "can do" attitude.
My
son Javon was diagnosed with ADHD (Attention Deficit
Hyper Disorder) and had low self-esteem. Therefore,
his grades in school were very low to the point of failing.
His behavior was very unacceptable. During the third
and fourth quarter of the school year he did a complete
turn around. He became an honor roll student, his behavior
improved, and he felt better about himself. I also noticed
that he developed more leadership qualities. He appears
to be a happier and more confident child today. Thank
you Lloyd Irvin.
My
son Demitri completed every task with an average result.
Now he has the enthusiasm and courage to tackle all
tasks with an "above average/excellent" attitude.
He understands that it takes hard work and concentration
to excel in school, work, and life.
Thank
you Lloyd Irvin's Martial Arts Academy for everything
that you have done for today's youth. You are taking
them to a brighter future. Special thanks to Master
Lloyd, Ms. Rose, Master Donnie, Mr. Mike, Ms. Lena,
Mr. Justin, Mr. Will, all parents, and the rest of the
supporting staff.
With
lots of appreciation,

"My
heart is overflowing with joy for what LIMAA has
done for me and my family."
I
just want to express my gratitude to the staff at
Lloyd
Irvin's Martial Arts Academy. I am a mother of three
young boys, two of which attend your academy. I have
seen a tremendous change in them during the past
year.
My son Aaron, who is six years old, has always been
a very strong, mature, and dependable young boy.
He
just needed to learn how to channel those skills
in a positive way. LIMAA taught Aaron how to do just
that
and a whole lot more. Aaron is now a member of the
Black Belt Club and holds a yellow belt. He continues
to work
hard and grow each day.
My
oldest son Sean, who is eight, has truly made a change.
Sean was suffering from low self-esteem and wanted
nothing
more in this world than to make friends. At home, Sean
has always been a bright and inquisitive young boy
who
wants to take charge in every situation. He truly takes
his responsibility as big brother to heart. As a
result
of the after school program, Sean's self-esteem is
much higher and he has been given a big boost of
confidence.
Like Aaron, he is a member of the Black Belt Club and
also holds a yellow belt.
Both
boys are now very independent at home and school
and
have been a positive role model for their two year
old brother, Evan, who now runs around the house
emulating
his older brothers. The after school program has taken
my sons' focus from the television and video games
and
placed it on a goal I know they will achieve, becoming
a black belt. My heart is overflowing with joy for
what
LIMAA has done for me and my family. Again, I want
to thank the staff and instructors for planting positive
seeds into my sons and helping them grow from boys
to
young men.
Sincerely,
Carlos
and Kim Makle

"LIMAA
has truly been a blessing to me and my family.
"
LIMAA
provides a much needed
service to the community in several ways. The After
Care program is invaluable, providing transportation
from local area schools to the academy, ensuring school
work is completed, teaching the children several forms
of martial arts. I have two sons enrolled in the After
Care program. LIMAA has truly been a blessing to me
and my family. Thank you to all of the hard-working,
dedicated staff. A special thank you to Ms. Rose.

"as
a result have enhanced their self-esteem, self-control,
discipline, and respect
for others"
Lloyd
Irvin's Martial Arts Academy (LIMAA) is a breath
of
fresh air to the community and to martial arts. There
are many academies that claim to be "about the
community", but LIMAA demonstrates it. To ease
the ever-increasing roles of parenthood, LIMAA offers
various services to help parents. One such service
is
the After Care Vanpool. The vanpool picks students
up at their school and drops them off at the academy,
a
well-organized and safe environment. Also, LIMAA
offers mentoring where students can get their homework
completed,
have an older student or instructor shadow for instruction,
or just have someone positive to look up to.
Most
importantly, LIMAA provides training for the mind and
body. Thai-jitsu is an art that requires discipline
and the LIMAA delivers. Our children, Johnny and James,
have been attending LIMAA for over 2 years, and as a
result have enhanced their self-esteem, self-control,
discipline, and respect for others. They are more confident
in themselves and their abilities. They are better equipped
to take control of their emotions and feelings. LIMAA
is staffed with qualified and understanding employees.
After a long day of work, you can ALWAYS count on a
smile, a kind or motivating word from the infamous "Mrs.
Rose". THe instructors are masters at their art
and the students learn how to compete while learning
good sportsmanship. With these good qualities, Lloyd
Irvin's Martial Arts Academy, along with the students,
will continue to grow!!!
We highly recommend this academy. TWO
THUMBS UP!!!!!

"Through
disciplining, encouraging, rewarding, and highlighting
Michael's
strengths, Lloyd
Irvin's Martial Arts Academy has enhanced his abilities
in leadership skills."
I
am writing this letter in regards to the growth I have
seen in my son, Michael Wilson since enrolling him at
Lloyd Irvin's Martial Arts Academy. But before I share
in his growth, I would like to give a little background
on Michael.
Before
enrolling him in Lloyd Irvin's Martial arts Academy,
Michael had just completed his fourth year (K-3rd
grade)
at a private Catholic school in the community. Michael
worked very hard keeping his grades above average
during
the school years.
Spring
of 2000, I set out looking for a Summer Camp that would
be suitable for Michael in terms of his development
as a whole person. A place that would revitalize a positive
self-esteem, leadership abilities, and would assist
him in the development of his concentration span.
Michael
previously attended other summer camps in the area,
but after reviewing with the staff at Lloyd Irvin's
Martial Arts, I decided this was the best place for
my son. I initially enrolled him for summer camp
only.
Currently, he attends the after school program and
evening classes and he never tires from it.
Michael
is 11 years young now and has been attending the academy
for 3 years. I asked him to tell me benefits he gains
by attending Lloyd Irvin's Martial Arts, and what impact
would it be if he could no longer attend. This is what
he said, "Mom, I'm a leader and there are children
that look up to me and depend on me. I have the responsibility
to them as well as myself." He continued to talk
about the respect, discipline and the team spirit that's
enforced at the Academy. As a mother I was deeply touched
and said to him, "I'm very proud of you."
Through
disciplining, encouraging, rewarding, and highlighting
Michael's strengths, Lloyd Irvin's Martial Arts Academy
has enhanced his abilities in leadership skills. Michael
is responsible, respectful, and thoughtful of others
and has proudly earned and wears a purple belt.
As
a single parent I truly do not believe that Michael
would have accomplished all that he has without the
support of Lloyd Irvin's Martial Arts Academy.
I
expect Michael to continue on this path, therefore he
is being enrolled in another year of the after school
program and shall continue his evening classes at Lloyd
Irvin's Martial Arts Academy.
As
a loving, caring parent, I say thank you to Lloyd Irvin's
Martial Arts. You have impacted our life greatly.

"As a parent,
peace of mind is invaluable. I know that once my
son boards
the LIMAA van (after
school) that he is not only safe, but in a well-structured,
stimulating environment. "
For
anyone considering enrolling his/her children in Lloyd
Irvin's Martial Arts Academy (LIMAA), look no further.
I sought their services when my son became too old for
a traditional babysitter and I've been very happy with
my choice.
As
a parent, peace of mind is invaluable. I know that once
my son boards the LIMAA van (after school) that he is
not only safe, but in a well-structured, stimulating
environment. Standards are high at LIMAA. Each child
is expected to give 100% in everything he/she undertakes.
Discipline, personal responsibility, and character strengthening
are the cornerstones on which the LIMAA philosophy stands.
The integrity of the program is reflected in both staff
and student attitudes. I've watched my son's personality
evolve from a somewhat timid uncertain little boy to
that of a more confident pre-teen. Additionally, his
leadership skills have emerged and become stronger.
When
I enrolled my son in LIMAA I was just happy he'd
be
in a supervised environment with children his own age.
To say that my expectations have been far exceeded
is
an understatement. I had no idea to what extent he'd
be positively influenced and for that I am immeasurably
grateful.

"We
greatly appreciate what the staff and instructors
have shown into our son's
life."
Late
March 2002, we received a letter in the mail from Lloyd
Irvin's Martial Arts concerning the after school and
summer programs. This letter couldn't have come at a
better time and I truly thank God. To explain a bit
further... We were experiencing some difficulties with
our son in school. We enrolled our son in the summer
camp program. After about two weeks and the difficulties
began to mount, we decided to immediately enroll him
in the after school program (even though only 2 months
were left for the school years end).
Well, to make a long story short, this decision paid
off greatly. Things that we were instilling were being
reinforced at LIMAA, and it is as if a light bulb is
finally coming on in our son's life. He said a few weeks
ago, "Mom, I'm just going to do what you say,
even if I don't want to because it's just not worth
it to
disobey you, plus there are always consequences for
disobedience." Hallelujah!!! Thank you Jesus!!!
We
greatly appreciate what the staff and instructors have
sown into our son's life. Mrs. Rose, you are a real
jewel, always willing to listen, comfort, provide wise
advice, etc. Again, thank you LIMAA from the very bottom
of our hearts.
May
God bless you all,
David and Rochelle Mooney

"You
have gone beyond the call of the job, by taking the
time to address both the positive and negative aspects
of our son’s development."
Dear Lloyd and Staff,
Warren
and I would like to commend you and your staff on
the
positive influence that you have all transferred
to Derrick’s growth and development. This is
demonstrated not only in Derrick’s martial arts/
athletic ability, but also in his academic and social
skills. While he has always been a very good student
and is consistently on the honor roll each quarter,
we are well aware that he has not always modeled those
same characteristics socially. Your patience and determination
have guided him though these past three years to a
mature seven year old. We admire you all for more than
your ability to coach the martial arts, but also for
your mentoring and positive influence.
You
have gone beyond the call of the job, by taking the
time
to address both the positive and negative
aspects of our son’s development. In addition,
you have also accommodated us by ensuring that Derrick’s
homework has been completed prior to coming home. This
allows us to have more personal/quality time with our
son after dinner and checking his homework. While we
are not the most athletic parents, we appreciate that
our son also gets the necessary physical activity on
a daily basis to keep him in good health. Physical
Education twice a week at school is simply, in our
opinions not adequate. Derrick has been so positively
directed to the importance of exercise that he “works
out” at home on his own!
Under
your guardianship, many children and young adults
have
been transformed into disciplined, productive
individuals. We have observed the dynamic changes in
some of these young “stars” who participate
in your program. You build character and respect on
and off the mat.
That’s why we think so much of you and your
staff. We are not just watching the “ Little
Ninjas”, the “ Black belt Club”,
the “ Ultimate Black Belt Club”, the “ Swat
team”, and the “ Master’s Club” members
beat the odds to win a match, during those highly competitive
tournaments. We are watching them beat the odds to
win at life.
Thanks you so very much for all of your efforts!
Sincerely,
Elise and Warren Holmes
